MP Guest Speaker at Loughborough Council of Faiths AGM

edge of a Bible

Andy Reed MP was the guest speaker at the Loughborough Council of Faiths AGM at Loughborough Town Hall on Friday evening. He spoke on the theme of politics and faith.

The event brought together member of different faith communities in Loughborough and Andy had the privilege of addressing the meeting and talking about how faith and politics can mix. He addressed the importance of faith communities engaging with politics and the need for to happen more.

Andy said:

"This was a good opportunity for me to share some of the reasons I believe faith can be a force for good in society and in politics. For many people their faith is central to their lives and we need in a globalised world to understand the mainstream faiths and not to be afraid of sharing the values we have in common rather than concentrating on the differences.

We acknowledge that each faith thinks it is right in its teachings as its starting point but after that we can work together. Most faiths at their heart have the need to love our neighbours. This is a great starting point for life with or without faith."
