Loughboroughs Walker captains Sapphires to crickets Super 4s crown
Posted on 08/07/08

Loughborough graduate and cricket performance manager Alexia Walker has captained her England Sapphires team to Super 4s glory.
Walker was one of six Loughborough players selected for the ECBs Super 4s competition which featured 51 of the countrys best players and kicked off on the University campus at the end of May.
Loughboroughs Kathryn Doherty was part of the winning Sapphire team, while UCCE assistant coach and England vice captain Nicky Shaw led students Salliann Briggs, Laura Marsh and Jasmine Titmus in the Emeralds. Graduate Lydia Greenway played for the Diamonds and was named player of the series for her efforts.
Sapphires were crowned Super 4s champions after the final round of fixtures fell victim to the miserable weather. Despite losing their penultimate game of the season on Saturday to Diamonds, Sundays wash-out meant Sapphires could not be denied Super 4s crown for the second time since the competition began.
