Nicky Morgan, prospective MP for Loughborough

In a bid to really understand the lives of different local residents prospective Conservative MP for Loughborough, Nicky Morgan, will be doing various one day work shadows.  In her first day out last week Nicky followed local Wolds farmer, Brian Harvey, as he worked on his farm including bringing in bales of hay.

Nicky also used the opportunity to discuss a number of issues affecting the farming community such as Bovine TB, meat prices, the lack of support for farmers from the Government, security and crime and food production.

Speaking after her day Nicky said, "It was great to be out doing something practical and is the best way to try to understand peoples lives and the pressures they face.  Farmers have had a rough deal from this Government who understand so little about the rural way of life.  If we neglect our farmers we are going to really regret this now and in the future.   It was also great fun to cart the bales of hay about and to learn to wield a pitchfork and I would like to thank the Harveys for putting up with all my questions!"
