Loughborough Walk In Centre
Posted on 14/08/2008
P. Klein
Many local residents are very concerned and angry about plans for Loughboroughs walk-in centre to be moved from its current town centre location to Epinal Way. That is the view which prospective Conservative MP for Loughborough, Nicky Morgan, and Charnwood Councillor, Pauline Ranson (Conservative councillor for Barrow & Sileby West) are hearing over and over again. They are organising a walk on Sunday 17th August to highlight the move and to put peoples views to the Primary Care Trust.
Nicky told inLoughborough: "Since we announced plans for our walk people have told us that moving the centre would make it more difficult for them to get to the new location. Even if there is a bus route which stops near the hospital the journey for many people will be longer and more complicated. As someone said to me "We are talking about sick people attending the Walk-in centre, not fit healthy people." The leaflets we handed out in the town centre last Saturday about the possible move practically flew out of our hands. We will be putting these concerns to the PCT and hope that they listen to what we and many others have to say before making their decisions."
Nicky and Pauline will be walking the 1.4 miles from the walk-in centre to the proposed Epinal Way site on Sunday 17th August. They will be gathering near the Magistrates Court in the town centre and will leave there at 2.30pm. For more details e-mail listening@loughboroughconservatives.com or call 01509 415852.
