Thomas The Tank Engine In Loughborough
Posted on 22/08/2008
Everybodys favourite blue engine is back in town this coming bank holiday weekend (24th, 25th, 26th, 27th August) at the award winning Great Central Railway.
The blue liveried tank engine is being joined by a special visiting guest, Toby the tram who will be thrilling the crowds, not to mention other favourites from the evergreen series of books.
"Toby and Thomas will make quite a team for these four days of family fun," said Lynn Hill from the railway. "Toby will be at Quorn station. It’s his first appearance in ages at the GCR. Thomas will be busy at Loughborough station running up and down, while his big friends, Donald, Douglas and Daisy will be working main line trains to Leicester and back. You can expect all the engines to be whistling to each other as they go back and forth!"
Meanwhile some other new attractions are being lined up by the GCR for this visit by Thomas and his friends.
At Loughborough Central station there will be a model Thomas railway which aspiring junior drivers can take control of. Singers and entertainers will be on board the main line trains and of course Sir Topham Hatt, the fat controller, will be only too happy to wave, smile and even pose for pictures with travellers.
"We’re also holding a competition to see if children can find Thomas’s guard who he has accidentally left behind,” added Lynn. “This is a great story from one of the books, which we are bringing to life for real.”
