Loughborough Blaze

Fire ripped through the Rectors house next to All Saints Church this afternoon (Wednesday 27th August 2008).

Leicestershire Fire Service dispatched a command vehicle and three fire engines to combat the blaze in the house which is located between the Rectory Garden and Loughborough Parish Church at lunchtime today. There appeared to be severe damage to the house, which had been boarded up for some time, with smoke still billowing through a hole in the roof and fire crews damping down the area 2 hours after the blaze.

Steeple Row was cordonned off during the incident by the police. An ambulance was also in attendance.

One local resident said she saw a 14 year old boy fleeing the scene just before 12 lunchtime when smoke was seen rising from the building and at which point the fire service was alerted.
