Listening to Shepshed

Posted on 04/09/08

poetry

Nicky Morgan, prospective Conservative MP for Shepshed and Loughborough joined Conservative Town and Borough Councillors, including the Chairman of Shepshed Town Council, Christine Radford, in the town on Saturday. Nicky first held a surgery with the councillors and then spent the rest of the day campaigning in the town. The Conservative team also stopped off for a delicious lunch in the Black Swan pub.

Issues raised with Nicky and Christine included national issues such as the rising cost of living and local issues such as heavy lorries travelling through Shepshed, plans for a golf course development near the town, dog fouling, the conditions of some footpaths and local leisure facilities. They will be following up all the issues raised with them.

Speaking after her day Nicky told us, "There are, as I already knew, lots of issues of national and local concern in Shepshed. People want to see something being done about their concerns and the Conservative Team in Shepshed will be dealing with all the issues raised with us."

Christine Radford added, "We have had an excellent response to a recent leaflet we put out. Shepshed residents seem very pleased that we are listening to them and tackling the issues they care about. Some of the problems are more complicated than others but we will all do what we can to help."
