Appeal to trace two women who assisted assaulted man in Ruddington

Posted on 30/05/08

Officers are appealing to trace two women who assisted a man after he was assaulted in Ruddington.

The incident happened when the 24-year-old victim was picked up from his home address in Loughborough at around 10pm on Friday May 23, 2008 by two men known to him.

Between 11pm and 12pm he was driven to Loughborough Road in Ruddington where an altercation took place between the three men.

The victim managed to break free and flag down a passing car, possibly a Peugeot 206, and the two women occupants drove him back to Loughborough.

The victim received treatment for minor injuries at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Two men aged 20 and 29 have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Officers are urging these two women to contact them as they could provide essential information to their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Pete Wheeler, who is investigating the incident, said: "These two women could have vital details which could provide new information in our investigation. We would urge them to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

"The victim is a black man and was wearing a tracksuit but no socks or shoes. He attempted to flag down several vehicles which did not stop and we would appeal to motorists who were in the area and were approached by a man matching this description to please get in touch.

"If you have any information regarding this incident, please get in touch with us."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DS 307 Pete Wheeler at Loughborough CID on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 0307. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
