Robbery at park in Loughborough

Police are appealing for witnesses after two people were robbed in a park in Loughborough.

The incident happened in the early hours of yesterday morning (Thursday June 20, 2008) at around 1.10am when the victims, both aged 20, were walking through Radmoor Road Park.

They were approached from behind by a man who threatened them with a silver tool possibly a file or a screwdriver and demanded their belongings. They handed over mobile phones and bank cards and the man made off on foot.

He is described as white, aged in his early twenties, between 6' and 6'4" tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black bomber style jacket with the hood up and had a scarf pulled up over his face. He also spoke with a local accent.

PC Claire Ufton, who is investigating the incident, said: "Although they were not injured during the incident both victims have been left feeling extremely upset by what happened and we are eager to trace the person responsible.

"Officers attended the scene to locate the suspect and a man seen matching this description was seen on Garendon Garden who made off from the area. I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the Radmoor Road area at around this time yesterday and saw a man matching this description to please get in touch.

"Perhaps you saw the route this man took after the robbery or know who he is? If so, please contact us if you have any information regarding this incident."
