All day beat surgeries being held in Loughborough

Posted on 29/07/2008

Two ‘all day' police beat surgeries are being held at local supermarkets in Loughborough during August.

The first is being held at Morrisions on Maxwell Drive on Friday 1 August 2008 between 9am and 3pm.  Members of the Dishley, Gorse Covert and Thorpe Acre beat team, PC Anna Fowell and PCSO David Carvell, will be there to meet shoppers and residents to offer help and information.  Representatives from Charnwood Borough Council will also be there.  They will be supported by other members of police staff who will be asking shoppers to fill in a short survey about policing priorities in the neighbourhood.

A similar day will be held at the Coop store in the centre of Shepshed on Thursday 7 August 2008 between 9am and 3pm.

Sergeant Kevin Wright from Loughborough Police Station, said; "We want to survey people to get a true reflection of what issues there are in the area and what concerns people have.  It will also be a chance for residents to meet their local beat officers; talk through any issues and pick up crime prevention advice.

"Officers and police staff will also be knocking on doors of local houses to ask residents for their opinions and, if they are out, they'll leave a short survey which people can fill in and drop back to the store.  I'd like to encourage as many people to give us their views so that we can use the information we receive for future planning."
