Witnesses needed for Loughborough fatal

Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Loughborough.

The incident happened at 10.45am on Thursday September 11, 2008 at the junction of Victoria Street and Bedford Street and a red Rover 216 and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a woman in her seventies, was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary before being transferred to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where she died this morning (September 18).

The driver of the Rover, which was travelling towards Bedford Street, was not injured.

PC Gary Duplock, who is investigating this collision, said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who was travelling on Victoria Street at the time of this incident.  I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the police as soon as possible."
