Leicestershire Constabulary seeks views on Race Action Plan review

Posted on 16/10/2008

Leicestershire Constabulary is launching a series of community engagement events seeking views from members of the public on the review of the Race Action Plan, which forms part of the Equality Scheme.

The Race Action Plan delivers accountability and scrutiny applied to policing by the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 to eliminate institutional racism, cultural stereotyping and exclusion and to promote a culture of inclusiveness which embraces and respects diversity.

As part of our commitment to improve the scheme and not become complacent, we are also consulting officers and staff within the organisation to help us identify any barriers as well as identifying good practice.

Residents and people working in the area, members of local community groups and individuals are invited to discuss any policing concerns they may have at the following community consultation meetings:

Friday 14th November - 6pm to 9pm

St Matthews Community Centre

10 Malabar Road, Leicester

Wednesday 19th November - 6pm to 9pm

Shree Ram Krishna Centre

Alfred Street, Loughborough

Monday 24th November - 11am to 2pm

Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre

Rothley Street, Leicester

Leicestershire Constabulary is widely recognised as a leader in the field of diversity and good community relations and is at the forefront of recruiting officers and staff to reflect the diverse make up of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
