Man arrested after incident with replica gun

A man has been arrested after members of the public were allegedly threatened with a plastic toy gun.

Police were called at around 1am in the early hours of Sunday October 19 following reports of a man walking around with a gun on Biggin Street in Loughborough.

Officers attended and a 17-year-old man was arrested on High Street. A plastic replica gun was also recovered. The man has since been released on police bail.

Police are keen to speak to anyone else in Loughborough in the early hours of Sunday morning who may have witnessed this incident.

They are particularly keen to trace three women who were standing near the Unicorn Pub on Biggin Street at the time who allegedly had the gun pointed towards them.

PC Glenn Spiby from Loughborough LPU said: "It's very important that I track down these women who anyone else who may have seen what happened.

This incident caused a great deal of distress to members of the public. People need to remember that it is an offence to carry a gun, whether real or immitation, in a public place and can result in arrests and charges.
