Taxi driver assaulted and taxi damaged in Loughborough

Police are appealing for information after a taxi was vandalised and the driver assaulted in Loughborough.
The incident happened between 1.45am and 2am in the early hours on Sunday November 2, 2008 when two men approached a taxi which was stationery in traffic on Swan Street and asked the driver to let them in.
When driver refused to take them as he already had a fare, one of the men kicked the taxi causing damage to the door.
After the driver got out of the vehicle to check the damage, he was assaulted by one of the men. He was not injured.
Two men aged 23 and 28 have been arrested in connection with this incident and are currently on police bail pending further enquiries.
Officers are keen to trace the two women who were in the taxi at the time of the incident.
PC Daniel Clarke, who is investigating the incident, said: "We are eager to trace the two women who were in the taxi during the incident who had been picked up outside a bar on The Rushes. They could be vital witnesses so we would ask them to contact us urgently.
"If you witnessed the incident, then we would urge you to contact the police as soon as possible with any information you have."
