Loughborough shortlisted again for two Times Higher student awards Loughborough University has again been shortlisted for two Times Higher Awards for the Best Student Experience, and Outstanding Support for Overseas Students.

Loughborough has won the coveted Best Student Experience title for the last two years, and last year also claimed the award for Outstanding Support for Overseas Students.

The awards, organised by The Times Higher Education magazine, aim to raise awareness of and reward the huge contribution British universities make to the economic and cultural health of the country.

The Best Student Experience award is based on a survey of all UK students and recognises universities outstanding contributions to the learning experience. Loughboroughs students rated the University highly for the quality of the extra-curricular activities, the library service and the sporting facilities. They described the lecturers as willing to help and listen to student problems at any time, and new students said they found the University inclusive and welcoming.

For the Outstanding Support for Overseas Students award, international students were asked to rate various aspects of their university experience. The careers service was one of the areas rated highly by Loughboroughs international students, as was the students union, which they described as active and effective. They also highlighted the effective help and support they receive in relation to living and studying in the UK.

To have been shortlisted yet again for these awards is truly wonderful, said Professor Shirley Pearce, Loughboroughs Vice Chancellor. It is a real credit to the hard work of our staff and the Students Union that our students continue to rate their experience and the support provided to them at Loughborough so highly.

The winners of all the Times Higher Awards will be announced at a ceremony on 23 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
