Student Experience hat-trick for Loughborough at national education awards

David Goss and Neil HalliwellLoughborough University has won the Best Student Experience award for the third year running at this years Times Higher Awards.

The highly coveted prize, which was announced last night (23 October) at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, was one of only two to be voted for by students.

The awards, organised by The Times Higher Education magazine, aim to raise awareness of and reward the huge contribution British universities make to the economic and cultural health of the country.

Commenting on Loughboroughs achievement, Professor Shirley Pearce, the Universitys Vice Chancellor, said: "We are all absolutely delighted to have won this prestigious award again. It is well-deserved recognition of the continued hard work of everyone at the University and at the Students Union in making sure our students have as rewarding and fulfilling a time as possible."

Loughborough Students Union President David Goss commented: "Its a real privilege to have received this award for the third successive year, particularly as it is voted for by students. The award is a reflection of the well-rounded academic and social experience enjoyed by our students at Loughborough."

The Best Student Experience award is based on a survey of all UK students and recognises universities outstanding contributions to the learning experience. Loughboroughs students rated the University highly for the quality of the extra-curricular activities, the library service and the sporting facilities. They described the lecturers as "willing to help and listen to student problems at any time", and new students said they found the University inclusive and welcoming.
