New Year, New You!
Posted on 07/01/09
PEOPLE who are making a New Year bid to get fit and healthy are being given a helping hand by Active Together Charnwood.
A series of free health checks have been arranged at a number of venues in the Borough during January so residents can find out more on how to get healthy.
The New Year, New You Checks take only 15 minutes and will cover blood pressure, percentage of body fat and water, weight and friendly staff will also be able to offer appropriate healthy lifestyle advice.
Active Together Charnwood, which works in partnership with Charnwood Borough Council, aims to improve peoples health by increasing physical activity levels.
The New Year, New You Health Checks are taking place at Barrow Upon Soar, Rothley, Birstall, Shepshed, Anstey, Mountsorrel, Quorn, Loughborough and Sileby.
Ian Matthews, Charnwoods Physical Activity Development Officer, said: "Anyone who has made a New Year resolution to get fit and healthy in 2009 should come along and have a free health check.
"It is a quick, simple and confidential process and our staff can give advice on how to work towards a healthy lifestyle.
Cllr Peter Lewis, Charnwood Borough Councils Cabinet member for Leisure, added: "It can be just a little scary to take that health check. We worry over what theyll find!
"But speaking from personal experience, its worth it. Taking that plunge can make you feel a little more in charge of yourself, rather than being the victim of circumstances beyond your control.
"So take the plunge and resolve to take better care of your personal well-being in 2009. If you dont, nobody else will!!
The New Year, New You Health Checks need to be booked in advance and will take place at:
Barrow Upon Soar Library, Friday, January 9th between 10am and 12pm;
Rothley Library, Monday, January 12th between 4pm and 7pm;
