Happening in Charnwood

Posted on 29/01/09

Everything thats Happening in Charnwood can now be found on one comprehensive internet search site. The Community Pride Group of Charnwood Together has developed a new website that lets people know What is on! When it is on! And where it is on!

The one stop site will give residents and visitors to Charnwood information about events from Guided Walks to the musical masterpiece Oklahoma. Browsing through the website your appetite is whet by intriguing events such as Rhymes and Wine to Disco Inferno. There is something for everybody.

Jill Vincent, Chair of the Group, said "This website is the first of its kind in Charnwood and was driven by the need for both Community groups and local venues to promote to a wider audience. The site has been developed thanks to the support of several local organisations to whom we are very grateful. 3M, AstraZeneca, Loughborough University, Loughborough Town Centre Partnership, Charnwood Arts and Charnwood Borough Council have all contributed to getting the site launched.

It is hoped that the site will continue to grow with more local community groups having the opportunity to promote their events through Leicestershire Villages site which supplies Happening in Charnwood with its local information.

Cllr. Peter Lewis, Cabinet member for Leisure, said: "This is an exciting initiative which helps us all to come together as a supportive community across Charnwood. The amount of effort put into organising, enjoying and celebrating in our towns and villages is huge. The variety is extremely impressive. Also, to have contribution from outside our immediate area is very encouraging for all those working to make this a good place to live, and a fun place for families and children. The more we come together, the stronger we are and the friendlier we become. This helps us all achieve that sense of fellowship across the Borough.
