Send your love to Charnwood Museum
Posted on 29/01/2009
Community Services
Love-sick Charnwood Museum is asking visitors to send in a Valentine’s Card to show their love.
Since its foundation 10 years ago, the museum has been at the heart of the local community.
Now, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, visitors are being asked to send their love to the museum in the form of a Valentine’s Card or verse.
The museum is currently host to an exhibition of Victorian Valentine’s Cards. The exhibition features more than 150 Valentine’s cards from the simple designs of the early 1800s to the elaborately decorated Victorian cards of satin, silk, feathers and lace. It is hoped that visitors will be inspired by the exhibition to send their love to the museum by entering two fun competitions.
Visitors inspired by the Victorian Valentine’s cards are being asked to send their love in the form of a Valentine’s Card. Winning cards will be displayed at the museum.
People can also express themselves in poetry or prose by completing this phrase in the most apt and original way possible: “I Love Charnwood Museum because.....”
The competitions are open to visitors of all ages, with prizes awarded in four age categories: fives and under, six to 10, 11 to 16, and adults (17 and above). Entry is free.
Schools are invited to participate by sending in cards from their classes.
Entrants should put their name, address, contact phone number and age (if a child) on the back of their card or verse, and post them in the competition box at the Museum.
The closing date for both competitions is 14 February 2009.
Visit Charnwood Museum for full competition details and prizes or call 01509 233754
Charnwood Museum is situated in Queen’s Park in the centre of Loughborough.
Opening hours are 10.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday and 1.00pm to 4.00pm on Sundays. Entry is free.
