Response to Development Proposals Can Now Be Viewed Online
Posted on 04/02/2009
MORE than 1,000 responses that have been submitted about future development proposals suggested by Charnwood Borough Council can now be viewed online.
A six-week consultation on the Councils Core Strategy - a document that sets out the future vision for the Borough up to 2026 - was held between October and December last year.
More than 1,500 people who live or work in the Borough attended a series of exhibitions and public meetings to view the suggested developments.
And a total of 1,110 responses were submitted on proposals for major new developments west of Loughborough and east of Thurmaston/north of Hamilton.
The consultation also included proposals on a range of other matters, including affordable housing, renewable energy and a possible major extension to the Science Park next to Loughborough University.
All the responses submitted can now be viewed online by logging on to www.charnwood.gov.uk/charnwood2026.
By April, the main points raised by residents will be condensed into a list of key issues that will also be available online.
Cllr Hilary Fryer,Charnwood BoroughCouncils Cabinet member for Planning and Development, said:"We are delighted with the response to the consultation but would like to stress that no decisions have been made about the location of the major development.
"Before this can happen, we need to gather more detailed evidence, including looking at the transport implications of the development options.
"There will be a further consultation period of six weeks later in year before we send the Submission document to the Secretary of State for her final decision.
We will be keeping everyone informed during the forthcoming weeks and months through the dedicated website and the Press and Charnwood News
The results of the transport work are expected during the summer.
