Activities for Young People in Birstall
Posted on 16/02/2009
Charnwood Borough Council in conjunction with Birstall Parish Council are organising a week of sports, games and activities for young people. This is in response to an increase in Anti Social Behaviour especially graffiti in Birstall in recent months.
The events are being supported by the following partners, Charnwood Community Safety Partnership, Police, Youth Services, Youth Offending and Birstall Parish Council. The events run from Monday 16 February until Friday 21 February.
Brenda Thomas, Parish Clerk, Birstall Parish Council, said: "Birstall Parish Council are committed to working in partnership to improve the environment for all age groups in Birstall. The Parish Council welcomes the efforts and commitment from Charnwood Borough Council to remove graffiti from the village and also the commitment from all the County Council Youth Services and the Youth Impact Team to provide activities in Birstall during the half term week.
"The Parish Council also welcomes the additional resources that the Police have placed in Birstall recently and the fact that they are supporting all agencies during next week.
This event has been arranged at short notice and the Parish Council would like to thank all the local Businesses that have supported this event and agreed to provide help at such short notice.
The timetable of events is available for viewing at the Council Offices, on Birstall Parish Councils website www.birstall.leicestershireparishcouncils.org and on all notice boards.
Cllr. David Snartt, Charnwood Borough Councils lead member for Community Safety said: "We are looking for as many members of the Community to help volunteer to pick litter up. If you would like to offer some of your time to get involved in the clean up your community please be at the Sibson Road Building (the old Council Offices) 10 Sibson Road, Birstall at 10 a.m. on Friday.
