Cash in at Bric-a-Brac Market

Posted on 13/03/2009

SHOPPERS hunting for a bargain during the current economic climate could haggle for a good deal at Loughboroughs weekly Bric-a-Brac Market.

The Charnwood Borough Council-run market has returned following the winter break and is held in Devonshire Square every Friday between 8am and 3pm.

It also offers the perfect chance for people to cash in on their unwanted collectables, presents or household items by hiring a stall and joining the regular traders who attend the market each week.

Items on sale often include ornaments, furniture, porcelain, collectables, books, nick-nacks, crafts, war memorabilia, clothing, computer hardware and software, jewellery, clocks, baby equipment, videos, DVDs, music CDs and vinyl records.

Cllr Peter Lewis, Charnwood Borough Councils Cabinet member for Leisure, said: While its not the antiques roadshow, nevertheless you can pick up not only amazing bargains but encounter fascinating glimpses of peoples everyday lives in past days.

What we all took as ordinary and everyday twenty or thirty years ago, now has a romantic curiosity value especially for our children. Just looking at the variety on the stalls is fun!

As well as the Bric-a-Brac market, Charnwood Borough Council also holds a twice-weekly market in Loughborough on a Thursday and Saturday.

Shepshed Market is held every Friday and there is also a monthly Farmers Market in Devonshire Square, Loughborough, which takes place on the second Wednesday of every month.
