Loughborough MP Andy Reed Welcomes Major Boost in Funding for Victims of Human Trafficking

Andy Reed MP welcomes the announcement today of extra money to help with the fight against human trafficking.
Labours Justice Minister Maria Eagle has announced a 3.7m grant to a project which provides refuge and support to victims of trafficking.
The grant to the POPPY project will help many more women escape prosecution and domestic servitude.
It comes as Harriet Harman, Minister for Women and Equality, unveiled 1.6 million further support for sexual violence charities, including Rape Crisis Centres, across England and Wales.
Andy said:
This support is vital in terms of helping women caught up in this despicable trade. Through the money Labour is injecting into the POPPY project we will be able to give the chance of new and better life to hundreds of people.
This demonstrates Labours commitment to building a fairer future for all and is in stark contrast to what the Tories would do. A Conservative Government would cut the public spending needed to fund projects that support the most vulnerable people in society in favour of tax cuts for the super rich.
We have to do all we can to tackle human trafficking and I fully support the measures the government has announced today.
