Margaret Beckett MP opens Canal Bridge Housing Scheme

Posted on 31/03/09
newsdesk

Margaret Beckett MP was in Loughborough on Friday with local MP Andy Reed at the official opening of the Canal Bridge Housing development.

Derwent Housing completed the development of 65 homes at a cost of over 5.5m. The development offers local people a variety of opportunities to rent and mixed rent/purchase. The development is particularly eco friendly with a low carbon footprint.

Andy said: I am very pleased to have been at the opening of this new development of social housing. This is another step forward in helping people rent and buy affordable housing in Loughborough.

It was great that we were able to have Margaret Beckett MP open the development and it shows the importance the government places on social housing that she was able to attend. The labour government has committed to helping people have access to affordable housing and this is just one project locally that is delivering it.
