Officers from Leicestershire Constabularys Serious Collision Investigation Unit have named the motorcyclist who died following a fatal road traffic collision in the parish of Grimston.

The collision happened at around 4.25pm on Monday April 20, 2009 on the A6006 Paddys Lane at its junction with B676 Six Hills Lane and involved three vehicles a black Suzuki TL motorbike, a white Ford Transit van and a black Vauxhall Astra. 

The rider of the Suzuki, Mr Christopher John James (39) of Derby, received serious injuries and was taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where he later died. 

The driver of the van and the Astra were not injured.

Detective Constable David Sharpe, who is investigating the incident, said: "The motorbike was travelling from Grimston and the van and the Astra were travelling in the opposite direction.

"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle travelling before the collision to please contact us."
