Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a musical instrument from a car parked inLeicester.

The incident occurred sometime between 5.15pm and 8pm on Monday April 20, 2009 when a red Vauxhall Astra parked on Abbey Park Road had its back passenger window smashed.

Thieves stole from the vehicle, a cornet and a MP3 player, which were in the boot.

PC Gemma Golding, who is investigating the incident said: "If you were in the area between 5.15pm and 8pm and remember seeing anything unusual on Abbey Park Road please get in touch.

"We would like to hear from anyone who trades in musical instruments and has been offered a cornet at a discounted price or in suspicious circumstances to please get in touch urgently."
