Loughborough students raise record-breaking funds for meningitis
Students from Loughborough University took to the streets of London on 8 – 9 April and helped raise an incredible £47,300 for Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) in a record breaking 10th anniversary London Loot bucket collection.
A total of 38 students from Loughborough Rag joined over 100 collectors from six other universities, pulled on MRF t-shirts and shook buckets in Tube and DLR stations in the city, asking commuters and passers-by for spare change. Defying the credit crunch and marking the 10th anniversary of Loot with a bang, the collectors smashed last year’s total by almost £4,000 to make this year the biggest in the history of the collection. For the second year in a row, Loughborough students were the largest group from any university in attendance, and raised a fantastic £18,589 towards the total - the most of any univeristy.
