Woman dies following collision in Leicester

Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision on Victoria Park Road.

The incident happened at around 12.15pm on Thursday March 26, 2009 near to the junction with St Marys Road and involved a red Peugeot 207, a silver Audi A4 and a white Ford Escort.

The passenger in the Peugeot, 78-year-old Mrs Gurbachan Jabbal, received serious injuries and was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary. She subsequently died on Wednesday April 22.

The driver of the Peugeot was treated at the Leicester Royal Infirmary for minor injuries.

The drivers of the Audi and Ford were not injured.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the collision to get in touch.

Detective Constable Nick Bryan, who is investigating the incident said: "The Audi and the Ford were both travelling towards London Road and the Peugeot was travelling in the opposite direction.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles beforehand."
