Officers in Beaumont Leys are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a bag from a football coaching event at the Babington College playing fields.

The incident happened at around 7.55pm on Tuesday April 21, after money for the event had been collected and left in a bag on the field.

A man, who was riding a bicycle, picked up the bag and began to ride off. The coach at the event chased after the man up to Beaumont Walk where he lost him.

The bag contained a set of keys and some cash.

The man is described as white, aged between 20 and 25-years-old and was wearing a black woolly cap style hat, grey top, shorts and football socks with trainers.

The bag stolen was a black leather laptop style bag.

PC Jayne Dolby, the officer investigating the incident, said: "We are appealing to the public for their help in piecing together this incident.

"Do you live in the area? Can you remember seeing a man matching this description riding a bike? Did you see where he went? Do you know someone who has recently acquired cash from an unknown source?

"We would like anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact us."
