Officers are appealing for witnesses after an attempted burglary in Fleckney.

The incident happened in the early hours of this morning at around 12.50am when the occupants of a property on Badcock Way were woken by a noise downstairs.

They went downstairs to investigate and discovered someone had attempted to gain access to the house by forcing open a downstairs front window.

No entry was gained and nothing was stolen.

PC Claire Murray, who is investigating this incident, said: "An old style Vauxhall Calibra was seen driving slowly past the property at this time. Perhaps this is connected to this incident? If anyone saw a vehicle in the area at this time which may have looked suspicious, we would ask them to get in touch.

"Do you recall seeing someone acting suspiciously in Badcock Way or the surrounding streets? Anything that struck you as out of the ordinary, no matter how small it may seem could be crucial so please contact us."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4445 Claire Murray on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 4445. Alternatively, you may contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
