Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery on a number 88A First Bus in Leicester.

The incident happened whilst the bus was travelling along Belvoir Street in Leicester some time between 9.40am and 10am on Saturday April 18, 2009, when the victim, a 17-year-old boy, was approached by a man who threatened him.

A black Samsung J700 mobile phone was stolen.

The man got off the bus at the Windley Road junction with Goldhill and walked off in the direction of Barfoot Road

The man is described as black, about 18 years-old with a thin beard. He was wearing a black coloured hooded top with zip on the front, light coloured trousers and white trainers. He also had a black coloured baseball cap with a graffiti effect pattern on the front.

PC Clare Moran, who is investigating the incident, said: "This incident took place on the upper deck of the number 88A bus. The bus was travelling away from the city centre and in the direction of the Saffron Lane estate.

"I am keen to speak to an elderly couple travelling on this bus who may have witnessed the incident or anyone else who may have been on the bus and seen anything suspicious.

"If you recognise this man from the description provided then please get in touch."
