Officers in Loughborough are appealing for witnesses following the report of a dog and her eight puppies being stolen from a house on Ling Road.

The incident happened between 8.30am and 10.30am on Monday April 20 when the occupant of the house returned home to find that the padlock on an inside door had been forced open and her black female Labrador dog, Bella, and her pups had been taken.

The birth certificates and registration documents have also been taken from the house.

PC James Seddon, the officer investigating this incident, said: "Having owed the dog for a number of years this woman is eager to get the animals back. We are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything in the area at the time of the incident.

"If you seen somebody in the area with a number of dogs or who was acting suspiciously then we would like you to contact us.

"We would also like anyone who has been approached by a person trying to sell and black Labrador pups to call us and aid us in our investigation."
