Officers from Beaumont Leys local policing unit are warning residents in the Abbey Meadows, Stadium Estate and Parker Drive beat following a recent spate of burglaries in the area.

Over the past week there have been four burglaries in the areas of Totland Road, Brading Road and Culver Road.

Police are asking local residents to be extra vigilant and security conscious whilst officers take action towards tackling the problem.

PCSO Clare Bradley, from the Abbey Meadows, Stadium Estate and Parker Drive beat said: "We've increased patrols in the area in a bid to try and prevent further burglaries and been speaking to local residents in surrounding properties making them aware of these recent burglaries and to offer crime prevention advice.

"Residents can help avoid being a victim of burglary by taking simple precautions to make their properties are secure such as always ensuring windows and doors are locked at night time.

"We would also ask members of the public to report any suspicious activity in their area immediately as this gives us the best chance of arresting offenders. If there is anyone who has any information regarding people responsible for these crimes, we would urge them to get in touch with us."

Anyone with information regarding these burglaries, please contact PCSO 6559 Clare Bradley on Leicester 0116 222 2222 or Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111. For information about crime prevention, call Leicestershire Constabulary and ask to speak to your local Crime Reduction Officer.
