Hundreds of schoolchildren have been learning about recycling whilst sharpening up their acting skills at the same time.

Throughout the last two months, young people at 20 Leicestershire schools have worked with a theatre company, Konflux, to produce a play in just one day.

The pupils' productions focused on recycling, reusing and reducing and aimed to teach children the importance of cutting waste through a fun and engaging activity.

Over the next two weeks, another theatre group is visiting schools to perform a play which explains the importance of cutting the amount of waste thrown away.

Holly Field, Assistant Director of Waste Management, said: "It's important to start teaching children about reducing waste from an early age and these two plays make learning novel and fun.

"We have received many positive comments from the schools involved who felt that their pupils gained a lot from the experience."
