Officers in Loughborough are appealing for witnesses after the report of a robbery on School Street.

The incident happened at around 4am on Friday May 1, when the 21-year-old victim was walking home after a night out and was approached by two men walking towards him.

One of the men then punched him in the face. After falling to the ground the victim was again hit in the face and his mobile phone was taken.

The two men made off in the direction of Cobden Street.

The victim then made his way to a business premises on Baxtergate, where he called the police.

The victim obtained injuries to his face and mouth but did not receive any treatment.

The phone stolen was a grey Sony Ericsson.

PC Julia Newton, the officer investigating the incident, said: "This man has been left shaken and upset by what has happened and we would like to appeal to the public to help us find those responsible.

"Were you I the area at the time of the incident? Can you remember seeing two men walking in the direction of Cobden Street? And did you see where they went to? If you have any information on those who you think are responsible for this robbery then we would like you to callus and help us with our investigation."
