A stunning wildlife photography exhibition and an exciting natural project celebrating Charles Darwin with both be launched at Snibston Discovery Park next week.
Wildlife broadcaster Colin Green will be introducing the proceedings and letting people know that this free exhibition is something not to miss.
The Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2008 is a stunning exhibition of the best wildlife images taken by the worlds top professional and amateur photographers and available to view until 14 June.
Discover like Darwin is a series of exciting events to encourage naturalists across the county museums and country parks, celebrating Darwins 200th anniversary, running from May to November.
Colin Green said "My own voyage of discovery into the world of natural history was self-taught, like the great Charles Darwin. Much was inspired by museums and the collections they hold, so I am pleased to support a programme of events that encourages others to follow in the great naturalists and explorers footsteps using sites and collections cared for by Leicestershire County Council."
Sir David Attenborough wrote to Leicestershire County Council to give his support for Discover Like Darwin and said: "I am delighted you are launching a programme of public events to celebrate the Darwin bicentenary."
The Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition and Discover Like Darwin joint launch will be taking place on Tuesday 12th May at Snibston Discovery Museum at 2pm in the Community Gallery.
