Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery on Canon Street near Catherine Street in Leicester.

The incident happened at about 4pm on Tuesday April 21, 2009 when a teenage boy, riding a push bike, cycled into a 50 year-old woman.

The victim fell over, dropping her purse and a handbag full of groceries on the ground.

The teenager then picked up the bag and the purse and cycled off along Canon Street, crossing Catherine Street and heading in the direction of Harrison Road.

The woman was treated at the Leicester Royal Infirmary for injuries to her leg and hip.

The suspect is described as between 12 and 15 years-old, 5’7” tall, of skinny build, with black hair and wearing a blue t-shirt.  

PC Alex Catlow, who is investigating the incident, said: "I would urge anybody who witnessed this incident to contact me.

"This robbery took place at 4pm in the afternoon. Think back, did you see a teenager matching this description on a bike in the Canon Street area before or after the incident?

"If you did see what happened, know who was responsible or have any information regarding the robbery then I want to hear from you."
