National Forest rambles with rangers

People can enjoy three guided walks led by County Council country park rangers as part of the forthcoming National Forest Walking Festival.
The first walk from Beacon Hill to Jubilee Wood and back is taking place next Saturday (16th May). This seven-mile ramble explores many of the lovely locations on the eastern fringes of Charnwood Forest and includes the Buck Hill permissive path, the Outwoods, and Broombriggs Farm Country Park.
Starting at 1pm from Beacon Hill lower car park, off Breakback Road in Woodhouse Eaves, the walk costs £3 for adults, £2 for concessions and £8 for a family ticket. Car parking costs £1.50. To book a place people need to telephone 0116 267 1944.
Afternoon tea and a visit to Moira Furnace Museum are included in a senior stroll on Wednesday, 20th May. This gently-paced 3½ mile walk includes the Ashby Woulds Heritage Trail and part of the restored Ashby Canal. There are no stiles on the route.
The stroll starts from Moira Furnace at 1.30pm and car parking is free. The combined walk, cream tea and museum entry costs £7 for adults and £6 for concessions. To book a place people need to telephone 01455 290429.
People can discover new views, find out about wildlife and learn about the history of the country parks at Beacon Hill, Broombriggs Farm and Windmill Hill on Saturday, 23rd May.
