Man arrested after serious assault on Freemans Meadow
Police investigating a serious assault on an 80-year-old woman have arrested a man.
The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Good Friday (April 10) in the parking area to one of the apartment buildings on the Freemans Meadow Complex.
The woman, who had been to a local store on Western Boulevard, was about to enter the building when she was grabbed from behind, pulled to the floor and punched to the head and body. During the incident the woman also had items of clothing removed and her purse stolen.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Amanda Lane, said: "We are still keen to speak to anyone who has any information regarding this incident.
“Please get in touch with any information you have, no matter how small it may seem, as it could prove crucial to our investigation.”
