Assault on Braunstone Gate, Leicester
Police are appealing for witnesses after a 39-year-old man was assaulted on Braunstone Gate, Leicester.
The incident happened at around 12.30am on Saturday May 2, when the victim was assaulted by two men near to the corner of Braunstone Gate and Western Road.
The victim received injuries to his face, resulting in a broken nose, and a broken ankle. He was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary by the Ambulance Service where he has received treatment to his injuries.
It is believed that the two men responsible may have left down toward the Western Road area.
PC Peter Daniels, the officer investigating the assault, said: “This was a nasty assault that has left the victim with some very painful injuries and we would like to appeal to the public for their help in finding the people responsible.
“Braunstone Gate can get very busy at a weekend and so we would like people who were out on this evening to think back. Can you remember seeing the assault? Did you see where the two suspects went to after the incident? Did you see any of those involved prior to the incident?
“We are hoping that people will be able to help us piece together the events leading up to the incident and so would like anyone with information, no matter how small, to call us.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 219 Peter Daniels on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 0219.
