Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault in the Clarendon Park area.

The incident happened Thursday, April 23 between 4.30pm and 5pm when the 12-year-old victim and a friend got off a school bus in Victoria Park Road.

They were approached by a man on a bicycle who verbally abused them before following them onto Queens Road where the victim was assaulted.

She did not receive any injuries.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries

PC Stephen Douglas, who is investigating the incident said: “This is a particularly busy area with lots of people passing through. We would like to hear from anyone who was around at the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious, or noticed a man matching this description.

“Maybe you were visiting the shops on Queens Road, meeting a friend for coffee or on your way home from work? You could have information which will help with our enquiries.

“We are also looking into the possibility there have been other victims in the Clarendon Park and New Walk areas. If you think you have been a victim of this man then please let us know.”
