Police are appealing for witnesses after a car was broken into in Stoney Stanton.

The incident happened at between 2.05pm and 2.25pm on Tuesday May 12, when the victim left his grey Ford Mondeo on Nock Verges, near to the graveyard.

The 39-year-old victim returned to his car to find the front passenger window had been smashed and his Tom Tom sat nav had been taken.

Two youths aged 15 and 16-years-old have been arrested in connection with the incident. The 15-year-old youth has been released no further action and the 16-year-old youth has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

DC Nic Robbins, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The sat nav stolen was broken at the cradle and so will not have the device to stick it to your window screen attached. This will help people to identify it and the thief should they be approached by someone trying to sell the item.

“We would like anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and saw anyone acting suspiciously to contact us and help us with our investigation.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 1308 Nic Robbins on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a voicemail for an officer then key in his identification number 1308. Alternatively, information can be left with Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
