Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of an assault on a 23-year-old man in Leicester.

The incident happened between about 1.30am and 2am on Saturday May 9, when a group of men and the victim were involved in an altercation outside a premises on Sanvey Gate.

The argument soon became violent and the victim was hit in the face, by one of the men.

The victim was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where he received treatment for injuries to his right eye.

The assault followed on from an earlier altercation inside the premises, which involved the same group of men and a woman.

The woman involved in the earlier altercation is described as white, around 5’8” tall, of a medium build and aged about 19 to 23-years-old. She had long blond hair in pony tail and was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit.

The group of men are described as being of dual heritage appearance.

PC Carrie Little, the officer investigating the incident, said: “We would like to speak with anyone who was in the Sanvey gate area on this evening and are particularly interested in speaking with the woman who was involved in the earlier argument.

“If you was in the area and can remember seeing the incident or know any of those who were involved, we would like you to contact us and give us any information you have, no matter how insignificant it may seem.”
