Youth Offending Service to hold open evening

Work to prevent young people from committing crime will be outlined at the Youth Offending Service’s open day on June 3.

The event, which takes place at the YOS offices in Thurmaston, will be a chance for people to find out more about the service and what it does.

Stalls will be set up, informative DVDs played and informal discussions held at the evening which is open to the public.

There will be an opportunity for people to not only find out what measures are being taken to reduce the risk of young people offending, but also discover what reparation work young offenders are doing in the community and how victims of youth crime are looked after.

Operational manager Tracy Green said: This will be a good opportunity to find out what is going on in the youth justice system.

The event will be informal and we will be happy to answer questions and chat to members of the public who would like to find out more about what we do.”

It is hoped the evening will show the many different ways the service engages with young people, their families and carers, victims of crime, volunteers and local communities.

Visitors will have the chance to browse a number of display stalls and speak to staff to find out more about their work.

There will also be the opportunity to watch DVDs on topics such as anti-social behaviour and volunteering, hear some small presentations and take part in general discussions.

The event will be held between 6pm and 8pm at The Leicestershire Youth Offending Service, Suite 4, Bridge Park Road, Bridge Park Plaza, Thurmaston, Leicestershire.

If you would like to attend please call 0116 260600 or email youthoffendingservice@leics.gov.uk to reserve your place
