Officers from Welford Road local policing unit have discovered two cannabis factories in Leicester.

One of the factories was found by officers last Thursday (May 14) at a property on Cavendish Road. A total of 630 cannabis plants were found at the property.

The second factory was found on Tuesday May 12 at a property on Lothair Road.

As a result of the second raid two men, aged 22 and 25-years-old were arrested.

The 22-year-old man has since been release without any further action and the 25-year-old man has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Horatio Wright, one of the officers investigating the finds, said: We are very happy with the results of the raids as 630 cannabis plants is quite a substantial amount and these findings have prevented a significant quantity of cannabis ever reaching the streets.

We are continuing our investigations into the finds and are keen to speak with anyone who may have information about the factories, the occupants and any activity at the addresses.

This has been an excellent result for us and the public and the community can continue to help us combat the supply and cultivation of drugs. If you are aware of suspicious activity at properties in your area then we would ask you to report it straight away.

Anyone with information about drugs misuse can call Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116 222 2222 or Crimestoppers, which is free* any anonymous, on 0800 555 111.

* Please note some mobile phone service providers may charge for this call.
