Detectives investigating an attempted murder and GBH are issuing another appeal for information a week on from the incident.

The assault happened at around 2.30am on Saturday May 16 on St Austell Road in Thurnby Lodge.

Two men, both aged 56 were seriously assaulted. One sustained a broken leg while the second man was taken to Nottingham Queens Medical Centre with head injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.

Detective Sergeant Glenn Iceton, who is investigating the incident said: It is now a week since the incident happened and we are still keen to speak to anyone with any information.

The victims were at a party taking place at flats on St Austell Road prior to the attack and theres a possibility people at this party either witnessed the incident or events leading up to it.

Although some people have come forward since the initial witness appeal we know there are people out there who witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to us.

If you are one of these people please get in touch, you could have information which is vital to our enquiry.

Since the incident officers have been conducting house to house enquiries in the area and speaking to local residents to offer them reassurance. Investigations are ongoing and we hope someone will come forward with that vital piece of information.

Seven men, two aged 23, and the rest aged 19, 24, 29, 31 and 45 and a 15-year-old boy have been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries. A 32-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have been arrested and are currently in police custody.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Leicestershire Constabulary on (0116) 222 2222 and quote incident number 132:16:05:09. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
