Appeal after people injured in incident on Peakcock Lane
Police in the city are appealing for witnesses following an incident in which a number of people were injured.
It happened at around 4am on Saturday May 23 when a fight broke out between two groups on Peacock Lane. Around a dozen people were involved, both men and women.
The group moved from Peacock Lane onto the Cathedral grounds and then through to Guildhall Lane.
A number of those involved in the incident were injured. One of the men received injuries to his head and attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment. He was released the following day.
Three men, aged 19, 20 and 21 have been arrested in connection with the incident.
PC Lee Sands, the officer investigating the incident said: “We are appealing to the public in the hope that they will be able to help us with our investigation.
“We believe that there were a number of taxis and cars that had to stop as the altercation spilled into the road. It is possible that they had a clear view of some of those involved and so we are appealing to these people to contact us and give us any information they have.
“Due to the number of people involved in the incident it is likely that it would have drawn a lot of attention from passers-by, we would like anyone who saw the incident or the events leading up to it to call us, no matter how insignificant the information may seem.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 1429 Lee Sands on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1429. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
