Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a robbery on Fairfield Street, Leicester.

The incident happened at around 4pm on Sunday May 24, when the 47-year old victim was approached from behind by two men, near to the junction with Mere Road.

The victim was pushed to the ground. One of the suspects then pulled the victims necklace off from around her neck whilst the second man attempted to take her handbag.

The two men left with the necklace, described as a gold chain necklace.

The victim received a cut to her knee as a result of the incident, but did not seek medical attention.

One of the men is described as being of dual heritage appearance, aged about 25-years-old, around 6ft tall and of a slim build. He had short hair, was clean shaven and was wearing a pair of blue denim jeans.

The second man is described as white, about 25-years-old, around 5’6” tall and of a medium build. He was clean shaven with short dark brown hair.

PC Kuljinder Lally, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The victim has been left shaken and upset by the robbery and we are appealing to anyone with information to contact us.

“The incident happened in broad daylight and so it is likely that anyone who witnessed it had a clear view of those who were involved. It may be that you saw two men matching the description in the area around Fairfield Street and can remember seeing them acting suspiciously?

“If you have any information that could help us with our investigation then we would appeal for you to call us.”
