Police in Leicester are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted on Braunstone Park.

The incident happened at around 8pm on Monday May 25, when the 19-year-old victim was approached by three men.

One of the men, who was on a bike, stopped in front of the victim and became aggressive. The man hit the victim in the face causing him to fall to the ground. He was then hit by the men a number of times before they left him around five minutes later.

Once the men had gone the victim left the park and walked towards Hinckley Road.

The victim gained injuries to his jaw and head. He later attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary where he received treatment to his injuries.

All three men are described as white.

The man on the bike is described as being aged around 17 to 20-years old, about 58 tall with dark blonde hair and was clean shaven. He had a local accent.

Detective Constable Pete Davies, the officer investigating the incident, said: As a result of the incident the victim has been left with some nasty injuries and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault to contact us.

Just before the incident the victim walked past a man, woman and three children at the Gallards Hill underpass. We are appealing to these people to come forward as they may have witnessed the assault or may have seen the three men who were involved.

If you recognise the man described or can remember seeing the victim walking along Hinckley road after the incident then call us and help us with our investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 1761 Pete Davies on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1761. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
