Appeal following robbery on Knighton Park
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a robbery on Knighton Park, Leicester.
The incident happened at around 2.55pm on Saturday May 23, bank holiday weekend, when the 13-year-old victim and her friend walked through the park near to the bridge.
The girls were approached by a woman who pulled the victims bag from her arm. As the victim attempted to keep hold of her bag she was kicked in the leg by the woman.
The woman is described as white, around 30-years-old, about 5’3” tall, of a large build and with freckles on her face. She had light brown or dark blonde hair which was tied back into a ponytail and had crooked teeth. She was wearing light blue jeans, a pink t-shirt and white trainers.
The bag taken is described as black with one strap. It had a red pattern and glitter writing on the front.
PC Deborah Smyth, the officer investigating the incident said: “Thankfully the victim was not hurt but she has been left too scared to go back to the park.
“Can you remember seeing where the suspect went to? Do you know the woman involved? We are appealing to anyone who has information on the incident to contact us.
“We are particularly interested in speaking with two women that were seen on the bridge near to the incident just before it happened as there they may hold vital information that could help us with our investigation.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact PC 4572 Deborah Smyth on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 4572. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
